I provide both time-limited and longer-term therapy.
My counselling approach is Integrative, rooted firmly in a Person Centred model. I draw together different therapeutic approaches in a way that is tailored for each individual client. These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic theory.
I graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Sheffield in 1981.
My subsequent work in educational and community settings has provided me with a wealth of experience in helping and supporting a wide variety of people, including those with learning disabilities, older adults, teenagers and young people.
Since receiving my Diploma in Counselling from Sheffield Hallam University in 2001, I have worked as a counsellor in several organisations, including Sheffield Womens' Counselling and Therapy Service, and South Yorkshire Counselling Centre. I was a founder member of Satori Community Counselling and served on the management team for three years.
Currently I practise in an NHS surgery and privately, seeing a wide range of clients with various issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, relationship and family problems, trauma, abuse, life-stage issues, bereavement and loss.
I enjoyed working as a visiting lecturer at the Sheffield College, providing training on a number of different counselling skills and awareness courses.
I also offer counselling supervision and group work.
